Si la production d'énergie renouvelable solaire, éolienne et géothermique est bien développée en Guadeloupe, il n'en est pas de même de l'éducation au développement durable dont la mise en place est très récente. Issu de travaux portant sur les mécanismes de contextualisation des savoirs scientifiques, l'enquête exposée ici vise à caractériser les conceptions d'élèves de CM2 sur la géothermie en fonction du contexte géologique dans lequel ils vivent. L'impact de l'opinion de l'enseignant sur celles de ses élèves est également mis en question par le fait que les élèves ayant un enseignant impliqué de manière critique ou positive ont une opinion plus positive de l'usine géothermique voisine. La détermination de l'opinion des élèves sur cet exemple semble donc soit être plus influencée par le contexte familial que par le scolaire, soit ne se construire plus nettement, par accord ou par opposition, face à l'implication de l'enseignant. Abstract If the production of solar, wind and geothermal energy is important in Guadeloupe, it is not the same for sustainable development education. Deriving from work on the mechanisms of contextualization of scientific knowledge, the investigation presented here aims to characterize the concepts of 10 years pupils about geothermal energy as a function of geological setting in which they live. The impact of the views of the teachers on those students is also questioned. Pupils with one teacher involved in citizen group critical or positive about geothermal plant, have a more positive view of the nearby geothermal plant. The determination of students' opinions on this example seems to be more influenced by family background than by the school or not to build more significantly, by agreement or opposition, given the involvement of the teacher.

Résumé : While Amazonian forests are extraordinarily diverse, the abundance of trees is skewed strongly towards relatively few 'hyperdominant' species. In addition to their diversity, Amazonian trees are a key component of the global carbon cycle, assimilating and storing more carbon than any other ecosystem on Earth. Here we ask, using a unique data set of 530 forest plots, if the functions of storing and producing woody carbon are concentrated in a small number of tree species, whether the most abundant species also dominate carbon cycling, and whether dominant species are characterized by specific functional traits. We find that dominance of forest function is even more concentrated in a few species than is dominance of tree abundance, with only ≈1% of Amazon tree species responsible for 50% of carbon storage and productivity. Although those species that contribute most to biomass and productivity are often abundant, species maximum size is also influential, while the identity and ranking of dominant species varies by function and by region.

The present study was conducted to assess the effects of Cd exposure on estrogen signaling in the zebrafish brain, as well as the potential protective role of Zn against Cd-induced toxicity. For this purpose, the effects on transcriptional activation of the estrogen receptors (ERs), aromatase B (Aro-B) protein expression and molecular expression of related genes were examined in vivo using wild-type and transgenic zebrafish embryos. For in vitro studies, an ER-negative glial cell line (U251MG) transfected with different zebrafish ER subtypes (ERα, ERβ1 and ERβ2) was also used. Embryos were exposed either to estradiol (E2), Cd, E2+Cd or E2+Cd+Zn for 72 h and cells were exposed to the same treatments for 30 h. Our results show that E2 treatment promoted the transcriptional activation of ERs and increased Aro-B expression, at both the protein and mRNA levels. Although exposure to Cd, does not affect the studied parameters when administered alone, it significantly abolished the E2-stimulated transcriptional response of the reporter gene for the three ER subtypes in U251-MG cells, and clearly inhibited the E2 induction of Aro-B in radial glial cells of zebrafish embryos. These inhibitory effects were accompanied by a significant downregulation of the expression of esr1, esr2a, esr2b and cyp19a1b genes compared to the E2-treated group used as a positive control. Zn administration during simultaneous exposure to E2 and Cd strongly stimulated zebrafish ERs transactivation and increased Aro-B protein expression, whereas mRNA levels of the three ERs as well as the cyp19a1b remained unchanged in comparison with Cd-treated embryos. In conclusion, our results clearly demonstrate that Cd acts as a potent anti-estrogen in vivo and in vitro, and that Cd-induced E2 antagonism can be reversed, at the protein level, by Zn supplement.
